This Coming Sunday
This Sunday, September 21, Our Founding Pastor, Pastor Joe Atkinson, will preach on 1 John 2:15-17:
"Do not love the world or anything in the world, If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them. For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world. The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever."
Then Sunday evening we'll have our "Surrendered Life" event. 6 PM. Connie Goncin will share her testimony and Sue Anderson will teach about living a surrendered life.
Child care will be provided for ages infant to 10 years old.
Jesus is pursuing you, even right now. We encourage you to rest in His presence today because he has much to say to you. Speak to him and listen, he is screaming his love for you. He wants nothing but you.
REDEEMER MINISTRY SCHOOL began last week. There is still time to join in. Call the office to secure a spot: 734-242-5277. Here is a list of the classes. Tuition is free this Fall!
PRAYER Sunday nights from 6-8 p.m. Taught by John Piippo. This class will focus on a biblical theology of prayer, using John’s manuscript, PrayerLife. Students will buy a Xeroxed copy for $10. Practical application includes praying for 30-60 minutes a day, five days a week. The material is mostly new and not taught in John’s Spiritual Formation class.
INTIMACY & IDENTITY IN WORSHIP 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesdays. Holly Benner teaches. True worship and adoration comes from intimacy with God, founded on understanding God's great love for you, which in turn leads you to greatly love Him (1 John 3:18). Worship isn't birthed through religious activity but out of a vulnerable, intimate relationship with God. This class will focus on building a greater understanding of who you are in Christ and building your personal relationship with Him.
DISCOVERING THE REAL JESUS 7-9 p.m. on Thursdays. Taught by Jim Collins. The Bible is the only required text for this class. Philip Yancey's "The Jesus I Never Knew" is recommended, but not required. Our culture often misrepresents the real, historical Jesus. This course will raise Jesus-literacy and experience of Christ. We will study the biblical texts as understood within their historical contexts and some current literature to aid understanding of the biblical accounts and to learn to distinguish the real from fictional. We will encounter and experience Christ as an ongoing, living reality through classroom teachings, discussion, and homework.

We Are a Presence-Driven Church
We're presence-driven (God's presence) rather than purpose-driven or program-driven. It is in God's presence that direction (purpose) comes.
Our focus at Redeemer is on the Real Jesus - knowing him, and abiding in him. We've recently preached through the four Gospels (a 6-year project),and are currently preaching through the Jesus-sections in the letters of Paul which would be referred to the "Christology of Paul."
We are developing a Jesus-literate and biblically literate people who know Jesus, not simply in theory, but personally and relationally.
